Even if you lose, you win?
Just another beauty night for baseball. The humidity broke bringing cooler temperatures, still warm, but extremely bearable. For those not enjoying the game, you had to find it extremely difficult not to be thoroughly enjoying the environmental conditions. And the company, of course (hard to avoid). One should always attempt to enjoy it all, no matter how unsuccessful, to ensure a win-win type of evening. Of course, it’s baseball, so although it was a win-win situation, it was also burdened with a lose-lose situation. Not really a side by each situation, more of a distinct win-lose, win-lose situation. Since there were two games, have to take it as multiple and distinct situations. More like a win-lose situation followed closely by another win-lose situation. Or a couple of lose-win situations depending on which side of the fence you were sitting on.
Easier to just stick with the win-win situation. Enjoy the night, the climate, the games. Easier to do and less complicated to quantify. However, one must always take the opportunity to deliberate with meaningless diatribes to be able to fill the blog by going on endlessly about things that matter for nought. Keeps me amused and off the streets. Another win-win for the general public at large. As the season plummets along, teams seem to be showing their girth, throwing their weight about the field, making plays and scoring runs. Others are still working on it. But not to fret, it’s a long season with plenty of time to pull it all together. We’ve been playing together for so long, we’re bound to get it right eventually, so enjoy your time. Time is fleeting and you don’t want it running away with itself. Grab it, bend it to your will and throw a good laugh in its face. The laughing part should never be an issue with all the antics naturally occurring out on the field. Still a few items that we still can try to get a better grasp on.
Scoring. Although it is simply nice to score a run by fully rounding the bases (at one's own pace), it is always better if you have someone keeping track of them to help avoid wasted effort. Definitely more chances of winning that way. Make sure you have a capable and reliable scorer on the sheet, recording every nuance of the game. Or at least one that looks good doing it. Another good thing to keep in mind is that it is always better if they can count as well, even moreso if they run out of fingers and toes. Obviously if they still carry about a full set of digits and find the need to count higher than 20, you may no longer need to keep track, depending on how many fingers and toes the opposing team has used. Thankfully, we usually run out of time before anyone runs out of appendages. Come to think of it, maybe we could go one better than 20 if the scorer is male, but let's not go nuts. Catching, The reason you have a large glove on one hand is to assist you with catching, or at least stopping, the ball. Always try to avoid the use of other body parts to field the ball. It can hurt. If not right away, very certainly the next day. Although occasionally you need to take one for the team…no, forget it, save yourself. Leave the sacrifices to others. Take part in the glory without causing damage to yourself. Focus on other things like keeping the ball in your glove when it comes to you. Still a work in progress for me and I've been working at it for a long time. Seem to be regressing. Still having fun, so damn it if I am ever going to give up trying (even though I always continue to be trying to others, an art which seems to come naturally).
Injury. As stated, best avoided. To avoid those aches and pains, warmup, stretch before, during and after and even in-between. If it’s chronic, seek professional help but try and book ahead. Psychotherapists are in heavy demand. That covers the mental anguish. The physical abuse can usually be contained with some sort of over-the-counter medication, so don’t sweat it. And remember, even if you can’t win, you can still enjoy yourself, so you never really lose. Well, one must but always fun to enjoy a win-win, even if that loss is thrown in there.
Just lose yourself in the moment.
